Textile |
Materials of Street Riding GearTextile fabric is made of threads, yarn or other fibers that have been woven, knitted, bonded or tufted together to form the clothing. Popular materials for textile fabrics are cotton or polyester. Textile motorcycle clothing is the most versatile but is not always the warmest or most protective for weather or injury during a motorcycle accident. |
Mesh |
Mesh is great for riding in the warm weather but is the least protective material. Many mesh clothing items have built in protection armor on impact prone areas - like your elbow or knee pads. It is very comfortable and does not restrict any movement but safety protection is compromised for your comfort compared to other materials. |
Leather |
Leather is the heaviest material option for street motorcycle jackets or pants. It has the most abrasion resistance while also not restricting much movement. Leather is the most common motorcycle apparel material so you can often find a leather jacket, vest or pants for anyone and any type of riding. |
Rain Gear |
Riding during a rainstorm is uncomfortable and more risky than riding in clear weather. Motorcycle rain gear is crucial for a smooth ride while it’s raining. Find bright high-vis, an outer shell, and other rain gear for men, women and kids to stay visible and comfortable while riding in the rain. |

There are many types of helmets for motorcycle street riding. They include different levels of protection, coverage and features. These options include:
Full face Helmet
Half helmet
¾ helmet
Modular helmets
Dual sport or adventure helmets
The first step in deciding which helmet to purchase is understanding what you will be doing while you’re riding. If you want to cruise on smaller roads, you might look at a half-helmet or modular helmet but if you are looking for aerodynamics & high levels of protection from dirt or abrasion, a modular or dual-sport helmet will be best. Check out our Types of Motorcycle Helmets and shop our collection of street riding helmets.
Cold weather motorcycle gear includes textile jackets and pants, leather gear, heated gear, face masks, balaclavas, gloves and boots that are weather resistant and protective. Staying warm while you ride can be difficult but with winter gear, ride all year round. Additionally, when riding at highway speeds, the wind can be cold. Keep yourself warm safe at high and low speeds in cold weather with warm motorcycle riding gear.
Some motorcycle apparel can be uncomfortable in hot weather, like leather gear. Find alternatives to thick or non-breathable materials to ride comfortably during the summer. Mesh jackets and pants, gear with ventilation, cooling vests, or more can be found in our Street category. Make sure everyone is comfortable in all weather conditions while they ride this summer with discounted motorcycle gear from Motorcycle Closeouts.
Motorcycle street boots vary from off roading boots slightly because of the protection required for off road riding. Motorcycle riding boots are much more comfortable and versatile while still providing your feet and ankles protection while you ride. Casual motorcycle street shoes or boots have also become increasingly popular.
A proper boot is important for your safety while riding a motorcycle. You should wear sturdy shoes, preferably boots, that cover your ankles and don’t have too high of a heel. Additionally, the laces should be tied without extra slack or they should be tucked in to prevent them from getting caught on anything.
